Hello Christian,

My name is Kevin. I recently stumbled across your work while researching the best places to buy grass-fed beef in Ontario. I have to say I was impressed with how in-depth and through your list was, and all of your information about how to implement a paleo lifestyle couldn’t have found me at a better time.

I’m contacting you on behalf of Nutrafarms. An Ontario based company that also supplies locally-raised, grass-fed beef. The slight difference being, we service all of Ontario rather than just smaller communities.

We are familiar with the other farms you mentioned on your list and fell like our beef stacks up very well by comparison.

We are wondering if we could send you a sample pack of some different cuts of meat, in hopes that you’ll consider us when you revise your list of Ontario grass-fed beef suppliers?

Hey Christian! Wanted to let you and your Paleo peeps know about our new farm in Shallow Lake Ontario (close to Owen Sound and Port Elgin) Our farm is called Big Rock Bison and we produce the best 100% grass fed bison meat around. Our happy bison graze on 200 of the most lush grass in Grey Bruce. We sell out of our converted silo at the farm by appointment or from Lamblicious a store just down the road. Healthy Butcher in Toronto has also carried our meat and will have a more consistent supply starting in July-August. Could you add our farm to your list of grassfed beef producers? I see our farm is actually reference in a comment below!
Our family farm, Brookfront Farms, is located in New Dundee ON, just west of Kitchener. Our farm is certified organic and we raise Grassfed and Grass Finished Black Angus beef. None of our cows are fed grain, corn or soy at any point in their life. We offer beef boxes as well as sides, quarters or individual cuts. Our website is http://www.brookfrontfarms.com

Vibrant Farms is located in Baden, ON just outside of KW. Could you add us to your list of grass fed beef suppliers? Been certified organic for 28+ years. Beef is grass fed & finished. Poultry is fed NO corn. Thanks!

My wife and I have a herd of Dexter Cattle that are grass fed on a Certified Organic farm. We have three steers ready to be harvested now with 10 to be harvested early summer. Our farm is in Grey County and will ship to the GTA. Our website will be ready shortly. Please add us to your list of suppliers.

Hi Christian, we had a sirloin steak this week from the David Baer order. It was succulent. I seared it frozen, after basting it with soya sauce and sesame oil, then cooked it covered on medium in the pan for about 20 minutes giving equal time to both sides. It was still a little bit rare, moist, juicy, tasty, and free of any chewyness that I find is usually the way with steaks. It had a delicious bit of fat along one edge. Unfortunately, I’m not exactly sure what breed is the beef. The weight this year was a bit of a surprise to David, as he estimated 500 pounds and the hung weight was just under 400 pounds. David and Marjorie are very sweet and so healthy for their age ! It was great going out to the farm and hugging the people who grew my food!

  Hi Christian, An interesting thing happened when I made a meatloaf with the ground from my grass fed and finished order. After kneading the meat, I noticed that I didn’t have any slimey grease on my hands. I have never had this experience before even when handling lean meat. I mentioned it to the farmers and Marj Baer told me that the butcher notices it too, that the meat doesn’t stick to his knife or leave slime on the table. I was totally amazed.

I just picked up an order of grass fed grass finished beef from the Baers and I want to thank-you for making this possible. It was so lovely to not only shake the hand but hug the people that raised the food that I will be eating.

I highly recommend talking to Sue at Brookfront Farms. Grassfed Grass Finnished beef. She offers mixed boxes (2 roasts,2 packages of steaks,1 pound of stew,8 pounds ground,1 pound saussage ) 20 lb box for 140$! Literally 7$ a pound! She even includes t bone steaks prime rib steaks and prime rib roasts! They also do 1/4 1/2 and full shares.

I’m following your Chicken Pot Primal recipe in Paleo Magazine and there are several ingredients that aren’t accounted for in the instructions. What am I meant to do with the leaves from 4 sprigs fresh parsley, 1 egg mixed with 3T water and 1/4 tsp garlic powder? I’m in the middle of making dinner and am stumped!!!! Please respond ASAP!

Thank you for advertising Baer’s natural beef.

We would also like to request that you remove the pricing from the information, as prices have changed, and may change again without notice. This causes confusion for customers, as you can understand. The updated info on the ‘eatwild’ website leaves out the pricing and cutting style information, and that’s the way we prefer it.

    At Baer’s Natural Beef, We now have about 20 animals ready within the next 6 months. We are now harvesting the first of our Belted Galloway cross calves, a smaller breed, (They will dress under 500 lbs) which finish better on grass. Our customers rave about the quality!
